Evidence for public and private decisions
Brasília is home to government bodies, international organizations, communication agencies and consultancies that need reliable data to make decisions, stay accountable and communicate clearly. It’s also home to companies competing in one of Brazil’s highest-income markets.
- Government bodies
Research that helps federal, district and municipal government bodies plan, evaluate and communicate policies and services based on evidence.
- International organizations
Studies that help multilateral agencies, foundations and nonprofits design, monitor and evaluate projects, with documented methodology.
- Agencies and consultancies
Custom primary data that helps communication agencies and consultancies support their clients’ campaigns, pretests and assessments.
- Companies and brands
Retail, health, financial services, education, energy and telecom: satisfaction, brand image, purchase journey and message testing.
A sample that represents the whole Federal District, not just the Plano Piloto
Conditions vary widely from one administrative region of the Federal District to the next. That’s why the sample is spread by region, sex, age and social class, and can include the surrounding municipalities (the Entorno) when the study’s audience lives or travels there.
When the goal is to compare regions, each one gets its own sample. As a reference, given the Federal District’s population, 1,225 interviews give a margin of about ±2.8 points at 95% confidence.

Questions about research in Brasília and the Federal District
Does Checon only do research in Brasília?
No. Checon was founded in 1992 in Brasília and carries out projects across Brazil and abroad, by phone, in person and online. We’ve completed more than 500 projects.
Talk to a specialistCan results be analyzed by administrative region of the Federal District?
Yes. The sample can cover all 35 administrative regions and be designed to compare regions or groups of regions, such as Plano Piloto and Lagos, Ceilândia and Sol Nascente/Pôr do Sol, or Taguatinga, Águas Claras and Vicente Pires. Each region or group analyzed separately needs its own sample, which we define in the proposal.
Talk to a specialistCan the survey include the surrounding municipalities?
Yes. When the study’s audience also lives or travels in the Entorno, those neighboring municipalities are included in the sampling plan, with their own quotas.
Talk to a specialistWhich data collection methods can be used in the Federal District?
Phone interviews (CATI), face-to-face interviews in homes, high-traffic locations and service points, online questionnaires, IVR, focus groups and in-depth interviews. The method depends on the study’s audience and question.
Talk to a specialistHow many interviews are needed to represent the Federal District?
It depends on the margin of error you need and the groups you want to compare. As a reference, given the Federal District’s population, 1,225 interviews give a margin of about ±2.8 points at 95% confidence. The sample size calculator runs the numbers for other scenarios.
Talk to a specialistDoes Checon work with government bodies and international organizations?
Yes. Checon conducts research for the public sector, international organizations, communication agencies, consultancies and companies, in line with ISO 20252, with external audits, and Brazil’s data protection law (LGPD).
